Viroqua remains undefeated in the State Legion Tournament with ba 6-1 victory over Waupun Thursday night.
Viroqua took an early 2-0 over Waupun with a bases-loaded walk in the
first inning and a lead off solo home run by Tyler Trautsch in the top
of the third.
Viroqua extended its lead to 3-0 with a run in the top of the sixth, and in the seventh a three-run home run by Mason Joholski made it 6-1
before lightning and rain delayed the game for about 40 minutes, then for about 8 minutes.
Play resumed in
the top of the seventh after the second rain delay, and in the bottom
of the seventh, Viroqua, with Trautsch on the mound in relief of Mitch
Stalsberg, shut down Waupun.
Mitch Stalsberg, pitching the first six
innings of the game, picked up the pitching win. Stalsberg gave up one
run, strikiing out 10 and walking two.
At the plate, Trautsch was 3-for-3 with a home run and an RBI, and Dave Crandell was 2-for-3.
Viroqua will play Wisconsin Dells at 8 p.m. Saturday night.
